Deposits and Withdrawals Deposit. In order to fund your account on Coinbase, you can deposit funds from another exchange or wallet. You can do this by following these steps: Open the trading view; Find the Deposit button located under Assets in the left-hand column; Select the currency that you wish to deposit from the Currency Type drop-down menu.
- Bitfinex supports fiat currency deposits via bank wires; however, verification of user account is required and this is projected to take 6 to 8 weeks. Account verification is not needed if you only want to withdraw, deposit and trade cryptocurrency. Coinbase provides a remarkable way for newcomers to cryptocurrency to start investing.
- Find the BTC line and click on “deposit” on the right side. You will be brought to a page with your transaction history and a wallet address. Underneath the wallet address, click on “copy address”. Go back to your Coinbase account and to the transfer menu you opened earlier.
US customers residing in a state where Coinbase offers service can fund their Coinbase accounts with USD via bank-wire or ACH transfers. Prior to transferring funds from your bank, you must verify your US bank account through the process below. For additional questions regarding adding payment methods, please visit Help Article.
Deposits are available on the Pro mobile app by going to the Portfolios page and tapping the Deposit button in the top right-hand corner.
Verify a US bank account
- Open the trading view at pro.coinbase.com/trade
- On the left-hand column under Wallet Balance, select the Deposit option
- In the Currency Type field, select USD
- Select the Bank Account tab, then select From, then select Add Account
- You will be redirected to Coinbase.com to complete the bank account verification process
Depositing from a U.S. Bank Account (ACH)
- Open the trading view at pro.coinbase.com/trade
- On the left-hand column under Wallet Balance, select Deposit
- In the Currency Type field, select USD
- Select the Bank Account tab. If you have verified your bank account, it should be listed here under From
- From the drop-down menu, select the verified bank account you would like to deposit from
- Specify the USD amount for the transfer then select the Deposit USD option to confirm
Depositing from a U.S. Bank Account (Bank Wire)
Bank wires are available to Coinbase Pro customers who have access to USD-denominated order books.
- Open the trading view at pro.coinbase.com/trade
- On the left-hand column under Wallet Balance, select Deposit
- In the Currency Type field, select USD
- Select the Wire Transfer tab. Follow the on-screen instructions—you will need to initiate a wire transfer from your bank account to your Coinbase Pro account
- You’ll be presented with instructions that provide either a personal account number or a unique reference code (you don’t need both) for initiating a wire transfer from your bank account
- Please note that the name on your bank account must match the legal name on your Coinbase Pro account for the wire to be accepted
Please be careful not to send an overnight or next-day *ACH*. An actual bank wire (not overnight or next-day ACH) must be submitted when sending to our wire details.
Withdrawing to a U.S. Bank Account (ACH and Bank Wires)
- Open the trading view at pro.coinbase.com/trade
- On the left-hand column under Wallet Balance, select Withdraw
- In the Currency Type field, select USD
- Select the ACH Bank Transfer or Wire Transfer tab. If you have verified your bank account, it should be listed here under To
- From the drop-down menu, select the verified bank account you would like to withdraw to
- Specify the USD amount for the transfer. You are able to withdraw all of your USD by selecting the MAX option
- Select the Withdraw USD option to confirm your withdrawal
How long will it take to deposit/withdraw from my bank account?
ACH
Purchases made using a debit card or the USD wallet are made available instantly.
When using bank transfers, the ACH bank transfer system is used for payments with your bank account. The ACH bank transfer system typically takes 3-5 business days* (which may be as many as 7-10 calendar days, depending on the timing of weekends and other bank holidays) to complete after initiating a purchase. The timing will be displayed prior to confirming your order.

You may see the funds immediately debited from your bank account when you initiate the transfer, but the funds will not be transferred to your wallet until your payment has finished moving between the banks and clears in our bank account.
After the banks have processed the transfer, the funds enter our system and you will see the money in your account sometime before the end of the estimated delivery day. This date is shown on the confirmation window when placing your order and can be located in the order confirmation email you received from us. End of the day is considered 11:59 PM PST.
Wires
Bank wire transfers may be credited to your Coinbase Pro account on the same day if submitted by 1:00 PM PT. Otherwise, funds will typically be available after one business day.

What is an available balance?
Your available balance is how much you can withdraw or transfer immediately out of your Coinbase Pro account. It’s directly related to purchasing crypto or depositing fiat currency using a linked bank account. For security reasons, you will not be able to immediately withdraw fiat deposited using a linked bank account or send crypto purchased with such funds off of Coinbase Pro (we call this “withdrawal availability”). Wire transfers and debit card purchases do not affect your withdrawal availability, but are subject to any existing holds on your Coinbase Pro account.
What does “funds on hold” mean?
Funds on hold is the fiat currency value of your recent bank deposits and crypto purchased with those deposits. This total amount will always be represented in fiat, regardless of whether you deposited funds or purchased crypto. Before confirming a bank deposit or crypto purchase with such funds, Coinbase will always tell you when those funds or crypto will be available to send off of Coinbase Pro or withdraw to your bank. The amount of funds will be calculated based on many factors, which include your account history, payment activity, and transaction history.

Your available balance is your total account value minus your funds on hold.
Are crypto value increases affected by the holding period?
No. Any increase in value of cryptocurrency does not affect your withdrawal availability.
Are wire transfers or debit card purchases subject to withdrawal availability?
Yes. Your purchases or deposits are subject to any existing restrictions on the account, regardless of which payment method you used. In general, debit card purchases or wired funds from your bank to your Coinbase Pro USD wallet do not affect your withdrawal availability—if no restrictions exist on your account, you can use these methods to purchase crypto to send off of Coinbase immediately.
My withdrawal availability time frame hasn’t expired and I want to withdraw funds immediately, what do I do?
You can still buy, sell, and trade within Coinbase. However, you will need to wait until any existing Coinbase Pro account holds or restrictions have expired before you can withdraw funds to your bank account. Withdrawal-based limit holds typically expire at 4 pm PST on the date listed.
Do I have to wait for funds to be withdrawable to transfer between my Coinbase and Coinbase Pro accounts?
Yes. If you deposit funds to Coinbase from your bank account, or buy crypto instantly, you will have to wait until your withdrawal availability time frame has expired before moving those funds to Coinbase Pro. When you try to deposit USD to Coinbase Pro from your Coinbase USD wallet, you will see an Available for Deposit amount. This Available for Deposit amount is how much you can transfer immediately.
You can always deposit USD directly from your bank account to your Coinbase Pro USD wallet—this does not affect your withdrawal availability.
